Support Guide: How to Update Saved Credentials and Profiles in Mobile Apps After Email Domain Change
When your university email and login domain changes (e.g., from @fmu.fmuniv.edu to @fmu.edu), some mobile apps may continue using your old credentials and cause login failures, sync issues, or missing calendar/email access.
Follow this guide to update your saved credentials and profiles on your mobile device to ensure continued access to university services.
Outlook Mobile App (iOS/Android)
Option 1: Remove and Re-add the Account
- Open the Outlook app.
- Tap your profile icon (top left), then go to Settings.
- Under Mail Accounts, tap the account with your old domain.
- Tap Delete Account and confirm.
- Click the following
- Click on remove account
- Return to Settings and tap Add Account.
- Sign in with your updated email address (e.g., username@fmu.edu).
- Login
- Follow any MFA prompts.
This ensures calendar, email, and contacts sync correctly with the new domain.
Option 2: Update Login Details (If Available)
Some app versions allow editing account settings:
- Tap the account under Settings.
- Update the email address to @fmu.edu.
- Save and re-authenticate.
Microsoft Teams Mobile App
- Open Teams and go to your profile icon.
- Tap Settings > Sign out.
- Re-open the app and sign in using your updated @fmu.edu email.
You may need to clear cached data if the app continues to log you in with the old domain.
OneDrive Mobile App
- Open OneDrive.
- Tap the profile icon > Settings.
- Sign out of the account with the old domain.
- Sign back in with your new FMU credentials.
Additional Apps (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
For other Microsoft 365 apps:
- Open the app and go to Account.
- Remove the old account.
- Sign in with your new email: username@fmu.edu.
Apple iOS Mail / Calendar / Contacts (Optional)
If you use Apple Mail:
- Go to Settings > Mail > Accounts.
- Tap your FMU account.
- Delete the old account.
- Tap Add Account and choose Microsoft Exchange.
- Enter your new email and credentials.
Android Native Mail App (Optional)
Steps vary by manufacturer, but generally:
- Go to Settings > Accounts.
- Select your FMU email account.
- Remove or delete the account.
- Add a new Microsoft Exchange account using your updated email.
